つっこみ／Tsukkomi (Act of pointing out)

“Tsukkomi” means an act of fiercely pointing out a contradiction and stupidity in the other person’s words and deeds, in a humorous way. You can say, “Kimi-no-tsukkomi-wa-surudoinaa (What you pointed out is smart)”.
When one person acts stupidly and another points out that fact, loud laughter can be stimulated. In an ancient form of manzai (comic dialogue) called Senzu-Manzai, the straight man, called Tayu, pointed out stupidity of the funny man, called Saizo. Since then, this has been a basic form of manzai.
