わろて/ Warote (Laugh it up)
“Warote” means “Laugh it up”. Since an NHK television morning drama series, “Warotenka,” was broadcasted a short time ago, you might be familiar with this word.
The Osaka Prefectural Kamigata Entertainment Museum (nickname: Wahha Kamigata) is the only resource center of laughter in Japan that introduces the appeal of variety entertainment and comedy, developed as public entertainment suitable to culture in Osaka, where laughter is highly regarded.
In the variety entertainment library, you can watch or listen to approximately 3,000 television and radio variety entertainment programs that were broadcasted in the past.
In the display case, a hand drum played by the manzai performer Sutemaru Sunagawa is exhibited. His family’s donation of this hand drum led to the establishment of this center.
