ねどい/Nedoi (Asking somebody about every detail)

“Nedoi” means asking the other person about every detail. “Nande? Doshite? (Why? Why?)” “Sonai-nedoi-shinahanna (Don’t ask me about such details, please)”.
In a scene from a comedy of kamigata rakugo (rakugo performed in the Kyoto and Osaka region), a man named Kihachi embarrassed a retired master by asking him about every detail, and the retired master responded by using sophistry. This is a pattern for causing laughter that can be also used in shabekuri manzai (comic dialogue).”
